Baby Speech Delay Issues Your Health and Fitness

Every parent wants a happy baby and enjoys watching their child reach certain milestones. They rejoice with each hurdle their baby tackles. Parents often find that baby development seems to be one of their main concerns. Some milestones that parents watch include baby?s first smile, step, and word. Baby?s every move, whether his first smile or first lost tooth becomes chronicled in a baby book. Almost every parent longingly looks forward to baby?s first word. Many become concerned when their child?s speech is slow to develop.

Experts state that there are statistical norms when it comes to babies? first word and other important speech milestones. However, not every baby is the same, and just because a first child talks at 8 months does not mean that the couple?s next baby will be an early babbler as well. However, parents need to be aware of regular speech milestones so they will know what is normal.

Expect the average baby to start making those adorable cooing sounds around 3 months of age. Many parents notice that by 6 months, their baby begins to make repeated syllable sounds. At this stage, ?mama? and ?dada? are merely speech practice. By a year, the average child might have a two- to three-word vocabulary and will try to imitate other words or sounds. Around 18 months of age, most babies say between 8 and 10 words. They also seem to enjoy reading books and pointing to pictures and objects. By age 2, most toddlers start speaking in simple two- to three-word sentences and start using that much dreaded word, ?mine.? This is the age where parents find that their toddlers add words daily. At this point, many parents wonder why they ever worried about their child?s speech, as the toddler now sometimes talks nonstop. But what should a parent do if their child does not reach these milestones at the expected time, and when should they be concerned?

Normal for one child may not be normal for another. Slightly delayed speech may just be a child?s own way of learning their language. However a child who has not met any of the marks of speech development or who is greatly delayed needs a consultation with their pediatrician. If the doctor feels that the child?s speech is delayed, a specialist will be contacted. These specialists could include other medical specialists, educational experts, or speech pathologists. The pediatrician will want to rule out any medical condition or problem that might be delaying speech. An educational expert can figure out if a child?s development is delayed due to learning issues, which sometimes show up in early development. If the issue is speech deformities or hearing issues, a speech pathologist will be contacted.

Parents need to realize that a happy baby is often a result of a happy parent. Baby development issues stress parents, especially when a child?s speech or mobility is delayed. When doctors assure parents that their baby?s delayed speech is just their own style, parents should learn to enjoy their child despite their concerns. Speech is a natural result of hearing parents and others speak, and before long, baby will catch up with peers and playmates in language development.

Samsung fights Apple move to block Galaxy sales

(AP) ? Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it will fight Apple's move to stop U.S. sales of its new Galaxy phone in the latest flare-up of an intellectual property battle between the world's top smartphone makers.

Samsung said it will vigorously oppose Apple's request for a court to ban sales of the Galaxy S III smartphone and still plans to go ahead with the device's scheduled release in the U.S. on June 21.

The South Korean company said in a statement that it will "demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S III is innovative and distinctive."

On Tuesday, Apple Inc. asked a U.S. district court to temporarily ban sales of the S III smartphone before its launch in the United States. The maker of the iPhone accused Samsung of infringing two Apple patents.

The request, if accepted by the U.S. District Court for Northern California, would deal a blow to Samsung's attempt to get a headstart on sales of Apple's next iPhone.

The S III smartphone went on sale in Europe on May 29 and will be offered by around 300 mobile carriers in Asia and North America later this month.

The early launch puts Samsung in a favorable position to take a bigger chunk of the lucrative smartphone market. While Apple is keeping mum on its annual iPhone upgrade, many analysts expect the new iPhone to go on sale as early as July.

Samsung has become the biggest threat to Apple's clout in the mobile market as its Galaxy series of smartphones won popularity among consumers seeking an Android-powered device.

Most market research firms say Samsung overtook Apple in smartphone shipments for the first time during the first three months of this year.

Samsung and Apple have been embroiled in bitter patent lawsuits in North America, Europe and Asia since Apple accused Samsung of copying its iPhone in April 2011.

Chief executives of the two companies met in San Francisco last month after a court instructed them to negotiate, but the talks didn't produce a settlement.

Amid the legal battles, the two companies continue to do business with each other.

Samsung counts Apple as among its largest buyers of chips and display screens while Apple relies on Samsung for mobile components.

'SwaggSec' claims hack of China Telecom, Warner Bros.

IDG News Service - A hacking group is claiming to have breached the networks of Warner Bros. and China Telecom, releasing documents and publishing login credentials.

Swagger Security, or "SwaggSec," announced the breach Sunday on Pastebin, providing a link to the files on The Pirate Bay. The group has been active since early this year when it claimed credit for stealing user names and passwords for an ordering system belonging to the contract manufacturer Foxconn, which builds devices for technology companies including Apple.

SwaggSec said the China Telecom data is 900 user names and passwords for administrators on the company's network. The information was obtained through an insecure SQL server, SwaggSec said in its post. The group said it notified China Telecom of the hack by planting a message in the company's network. The SQL server was moved but not fixed.

"Fortunately for them, we did not destroy their infrastructure and rendered millions of customers without communication," SwaggSec said in a note accompanying the data.

The Warner Bros. data includes a report marked "confidential" and titled "Content Security Status Update" dated the week ending April 27. It is an evaluation of the company's websites, including the top 10 sites with the most open medium-risk vulnerabilities. It also lists the top 10 medium to high-risk vulnerabilities on its networks, with the top two being cross-site scripting and unsupported SSL.

If accurate, the data would provide a would-be hacker a strong start to begin probing Warner Bros. websites. The bundle of data included other documents, some of which are dated 2007.

"Warner Bros.' also approaches the same technique of confidentiality and ignorance when it comes to their own security vulnerabilities," SwaggSec said. "When we hacked their intranet, we were surprised to see their IT department's well documented 'confidential' data about the 'critical vulnerabilities' on their servers and sites. However, their IT department's ignorance to fix any of the vulnerabilities they were aware about granted us complete access to their servers."

The group continued to taunt Warner Bros. on Twitter later on Sunday writing, "So Warner Bros you going to fix your vulns now that we've hacked you?"

Efforts to reach Warner Bros. were not immediately successful. China Telecom officials did not have an immediate comment.
